Getting ready for spring and summer driving is important. Here are a few things that will help ensure your driving comfort and safety.
- Check your tires and ensure that they are properly inflated. Worn tires can be hazardous, especially when water builds up on road surfaces. Worn tires can cause hydroplaning. Hydroplaning is caused when the tire cannot channel the water properly from under the tire, which in turn, causes the tire to lose contact with the road and you lose control.
- Check your windshield wiper blades. If have not changed your windshield wiper blades in the past 6 months or if they are worn. A worn wiper blade will streak or smear impairing your vision during rain weather.
- Check your battery and charging system.
- Check your exhaust, brake and suspension systems to ensure they are in good working order.
- Check all belts and hoses.
- If your vehicle is equipped with air conditioning have the system inspected as it may prevent costly repairs latter.
- If your vehicle is equipped with a cabin filter now is the time to have it checked. A dirty cabin filter can reduce the efficiency of your air conditioner and it will be less effective in protecting you from containments such as, pollen, dust, mold spores and smog.
- Check all exterior lights.
- Check all fluids especially the antifreeze to ensure your vehicle doesn't overheat during the hot weather.

Washing and waxing your vehicle helps protect your vehicles finish, which can increase the value of your vehicle when its time to sell or trade it in. Here are some does and dont's:
- Don't wash or wax your vehicle in direct sunlight.
- Don't use dish detergent as dish detergents contain harsh chemicals that can strip away the wax finish on your vehicle. They are hard to rinse off and they will mostly likely leave streaks.
- Do wash your vehicle with a formulated vehicle wash product.
- Do use a soft wash mitt and warm water.
- Don't wash your vehicle all at once. Wash sections and rinse to prevent the soap from drying on the finish.
- Do dry your vehicle with a soft terrycloth towel or chamois.
- Do make sure that your vehicle is clean and dry before waxing.
